Josephine Baker and Diamond Dogs

David Bowie got his inspiration for the Diamond Dogs cover art from a photo of Josephine Baker by Boris Lipnitzki. Terry O’Neill shot separate images of David and a dog lying in the same position. The two images were composited and the final illustration was created by illustrator Guy Peellaert, shown here with his finished artwork.
