March 1976

As Tina and I watched from the rafters the first scene of UN CHIEN ANDALOU flickered across a big screen above the stage. Bowie had chosen to show the film instead of having an opening band. Hearing the audience roar in response to Buñuel and Dali’s vision was like watching the film again through thousands of uninitiated eyes. It was almost 3 years to the day when Sponz had shown it to us in class.
